The model a pickup was a great little workhorse for ford motor co. The model a was built 1928 to 1931; this one being one of the last to be produced with the indent firewall and larger steel bed. A plain jane with painted radiator shell and head lamps. This is a most original truck that looks repainted 35 to 40 years ago. All ford steel body and fenders with recent painted wire wheels and like new universal tires. Body and fenders excellent - solid good fitting - fenders are very straight. Paint condition is cracked, just the right patina. Shows 27,834 miles; which could be correct. Runs and drives like a model a. Ford model a roaster pickup - tribute mobil tank truck. Show, drive or play with top on or off. Back in the 1920's and 30's as the automobile became more affordable, thru mas production, the need for fuel stations became more and more apparent. The fist rural filling stations were set up at country general stores; perhaps a wayne visible pump and underground tank in each location. As towns grew, regular gas stations were built on prominent crossroads and corners. Perhaps a little ford truck like this one would have been set up with a custom 2 comp tank for supplying both kerosene and gasoline to a specific route. Early petroleum companies were proud of their name and brand, and would advertise on their fleet of vehicles. Unfortunately the collectability of these trucks were seldom projected to the future; thus many ended up in scrap yards after their years of faithful survive. This 1931 model a roadster pickup is an authentic original. All steel truck fitted with a tribute correct mobil tank body and all the brand signage that would be appropriate at the time. Completely restored by "billy's big boys garage" with loving care and period correct detail. This truck was mechanically rebuilt as needed, runs and drives very well. Ideal for parades, museums, private petroliana collections, movie sets, ect. Recent paint, chrome, interior and decals make this little ford a very interesting part of any fine collection. Correctly outfitted with all the bells and whistles - including a mock rubble hose with brass nozzle.
